With these words, the Moroccan writer describes Fez\u2019s Medina in her book \u201cDreams of Trespass,\u201d a true labyrinth of narrow streets that haven\u2019t lost their original charm with their wooden balconies, old buildings, mosques, madrasas (religious schools) and the famous tanneries. The Medina of Fez \u2013 the biggest one in the world with 9000 narrow streets \u2013 was the first site of Morocco to be recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.<\/span><\/p>\n

The cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco, here we find one of the oldest universities in the world, Fez lost its political capital status to Rabat in 1912.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Starting from Fez, we\u2019ll reach Chefchouen (also known as the Blue City): perched on the Rif mountainsides, this beautiful town is characterized by a medina with completely blue-painted houses. You\u2019ll have the chance to \u201cget lost\u201d in its narrow streets (all uphill!!!), look around its numerous shops and eat in one of its countless restaurants.<\/p>\n

The following day on our way back to Fez, if we leave in the morning, it will be possible to schedule 2 stopovers: one to visit the archeological site of Volubilis and the other one to visit the nearby holy town of Moulay Driss Zerhoun or Meknes, one of the 4 imperial cities of Morocco.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
